Tragedy is a form which, at its root, pits the rational and ordered world against that of terror and chaos. Among its themes are the relationship between human destiny and human choice, the duty to the state vs the individual.

Using vaudeville, “red nose” clown, and the eccentric absurdity of the character clown, Dell’Arte students dive into and situations guaranteed to make you revel in a world gone awry.

Using one performer, two assistants, and lots of imagination, a world is created and its inhabitants animated using puppetry, masks, music and more.

Dell'Arte Amphitheatre and Carlo TheatreSince 1991, the Dell'Arte Mad River Festival has brought together performers and audience members from "around the world and down the block" for performances of theatre, music, comedy, storytelling, clown, puppetry and more. Celebrating Blue Lake's centennial will be a new opera, BLUE LAKE: THE OPERA, by Lauren Wilson and the return of Los Payasos Mendigos.
