New Student Information
 Housing
The Dell’Arte facilities do not include dormitories. Students are required to find their own housing within the community. Students can find housing in Blue Lake. There is also housing in Arcata and McKinleyville, but those options are only viable if a student owns a vehicle or has regular access to one. We do not recommend that students look for housing outside of Blue Lake, Arcata, or McKinleyville - all other towns are quite far.

Students usually pay rent between $400and $550 per month. Utilities are generally not included, and will cost on average another $70-$120 per month. Please include expenses such as cleaning deposits, utility deposits, first and last months rent and set up housekeeping costs in your first month’s budget.

It is against city ordinance to live in a vehicle on a city street.  There are no residential campsites within the vicinity.

Housing can be difficult to find in this area and may take up to two weeks. We suggest that students arrive at least one week before classes begin to get settled. Contact the Dell’Arte Student Housing Manager Dharla Curry for assistance (dharla@dellarte.com or (707) 668-5663 x17).

Dell’Arte has a few housing options available to a limited amount of students. Contact Dharla Curry as soon as possible if you think you may be interested in one of these options:

$400 deposit required to reserve room, non-refundable, will count as the first months rent.
Last months rent and deposits due upon occupancy.
$100 non-refundable deep cleaning fee
$100 refundable security deposit

Monthly rent at “The Hotel" includes water, utilities and garbage pick-up. Phone service is not included. There are however, some phone lines established in some of the rooms, and it's a fairly simple procedure to have a personal phone installed. Contact the phone company at 1-800-310-2355 or visit their website at www.sbc.com.
Total move-in cost for the "Hotel" is $1000.  This includes first and last months rent ($800), cleaning and security deposits ($200). Upon departure, if there has been no damage to the property, we will refund the $100 security deposit if the hotel is left the way you found it.

If a student enjoys living with a lot of people, “The Hotel" can be the perfect place. Keep in mind, however, that several people share kitchen and bath privileges, so everyone does their fair share of the cleaning. We have a Student Resident Manager living in “The Hotel” to insure that everyone keeps their home a sweet home. Benefits for the Resident Manager include discounted rent. If a student is interested in the Resident Manager position, they can call Dharla Curry at 707-668-5663 x17 for more information.
