Lydia Foreman received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Arts with an emphasis in theatre from Austin Peay State University.  As a theatre major at Austin Peay, she was the recipient of both the Rosemary Norris Award for Academic and Artistic Achievement and the John L. Griffin Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Department of Speech, Communication and Theatre, as well as the Woodward Language and Literature Award.

In addition to her career in theatre, Lydia has significant experience as an educator and has conducted instructional seminars in areas of education, entertainment and promotional techniques.  Having taught for both public and private institutions, including The International School of St. Maarten, she has classroom experience with all ages.  As an instructor with the ASSIST Program of the Southern Baptist Convention, she has also conducted training sessions for teachers of various age levels.  Workshops taught include: “How Children Learn”, “Teaching Adults” and “How to Reach Your Teens.”   Workshops taught through Austin Peay State University’s Continuing Education program include:  “Storytelling” and “Creative Drama for Children.” 

Her costume designs have been seen in a number of Dell’Arte Company productions* as well as in shows by both the Dell’Arrte Teen Ensemble and Youth Academy.  In addition to serving as an instructor for the Summer Youth Academy, Lydia has conducted theatre arts classes for several area schools including:  Trinadad, Pine Hill, Green Point and Pacific Union where she directed the musical, West Side Story.  At Blue Lake Union School she has coached award-winning performance groups who have gone on to compete at the state level in the annual California History Day Project.  Inspired by, and in collaboration with her students, she has written and directed two full length plays entitled, To Know or Not to Know and Show Me Whatcha’ Got…with apologies to Shakespeare.
