We are currently accepting applications for our 2010-2011 school year, which commences on Saturday October 2, 2010. Each year we select up to 30 PTP Students into our first year class.

If you are interested in being considered for the class of 2010-2011 please apply online as soon as possible. Once you apply you will benefit from application deadline reminders, application status updates, and support in completing the application process. Once we receive your initial application you will be asked to submit:

  Presented in person in Blue Lake, CA  
  or submitted by video, see below for video requirements
Audition:

Please prepare the following:
1. Your life story enacted by whatever means you choose (3 minutes or less). Please make sure to include the following in any order you like:
  • Your name and where you are from
  • A song
  • A movement sequence ranging from very simple to as complex as you can imagine
2. Two contrasting monologues (One from a classical drama and One from a contemporary comedy. One minute each.
We look for the animation of the space via indwelt character and revealed story. We value the transformative actor and the principles of rhythm and pace, volume and dimension, time and timing, duration and weight, line of force, contrast, interruption, and discovery.

To present your audtion at Dell'Arte contact our Director of Admissions Joe Krienke, or you may submit your audition by video.

VIDEO AUDITION TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

GENERAL
Please submit your video in one of the following formats:

  • Emailed to our director of admissions Joe Krienke (25mb max file size)
  • Uploaded online and be embeddable (ie hosted on YouTube/Vimeo or another sharable online video platform)
  • Mailed, in DVD format, to Video Audition, PO Box 128, Blue Lake CA 95525. (DVD platform)

For emailed or embedded submissions please include the following materials via email:

  •     URL address of your video (double check the link works).
  •     Include a link to your website (if you have one)
  •     Include your email address (if different from the one you are sending from).
  •     Email all information to joe@dellarte.com

Other information:
  • All videos must be 5 minutes long.
  • Only one video may be submitted per application.
  • If your application to Dell’Arte is successful you will be required to submit a finished copy of your video on DVD for your student file by September 1, 2010. Audition videos will NOT be made available for public viewing.

Statement of Purpose
:

The statement of purpose should be one page type written statement expressing your interest in the work we propose at the school, how you intend to engage the work, how you hope to change, how you want to apply the
work to your life, and anything else you feel is at the heart of what you are searching for.

3 Letters of recommendation:

You may have your references email your letters of recommendation to our Registrar Nicholette Routhier (Nicholette@dellarte.com). All emailed letters of reccomendation should be sent from a professional email address (.edu for example). We would prefer not to receive letters of reference emails from gmail.com, yahoo.com, aol.com, or other such private email providers. It is best if former teachers, directors, or professional collaborators send your letters of recommendation.

Typically we ask for one type written page addressing your strengths as a transformative actor, a generative theatre artist, a mover, and an ensemble player. We also ask for areas of improvement and your capacity for change. Please contact Nicholette Routhier    (Nicholette@dellarte.com) with additional questions.

Resume:

Your resume should include any performance, directing, writing, and devising experience, training, skills, and other such things that you feel are pertinent.

Photo:

Please email a recent photo to our registrar Nicholette Routhier ( Nicholette @dellarte.com). Your photo should provide an up-to-date image of who you are, such that we might recognize you upon meeting you in person.
