Moving the body can be a joyful thing!  Drawing inspiration from various dance forms and Capoeira, students will find new pathways in their bodies to create, express, and move through space. We will explore spiral movement pathways, responsive partnering dynamics, and elemental inspirations. The playful and dance-like elements of circular flow and improvisation that are central to Capoeira can guide us towards greater freedom in our embodied expression.

Class Leader: Mestre Espaço is a Brazilian Capoeirista, Dancer, and Mover, who has dedicated his life to the art of Capoeira since he was 18 years old. He trained, taught, and performed in his hometown of Sao Paulo before cycling for two years, pedaling through 10 countries and over 12,000 miles to California, with the purpose of studying at Capoeira schools all along the journey. He has taught Capoeira in organizations throughout the Bay Area and formed his own academy in Petaluma where he taught for twelve years. He is now based in Humboldt, teaching here at Dell’Arte International and at his own local academy. Learn more at capoeiraazania.com.
