Dell’Arte to mentor TCG grant recipient Jamie Van Camp

Dell’Arte is excited to announce that MFA graduate Jamie Van Camp is one of eight recipients of the Theatre Communications Group Leadership U[niversity] One-on-One Grants and will be joining Dell’Arte in 2016/17 to be mentored by our Producing Artistic Director, Michael Fields. The grant, funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, aims to strengthen the field by developing individuals at the core and future of theatre. DAI joins The Public Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Trinity Rep, and 5 other national theatres as host of a grantee.

Jamie will be working in community engagement assisting in various programs including The Annual Holiday Show Tour which showcases Dell’Arte’s latest company work “Alice in Wonderland: A Holiday Adventure” as well as the 2017 Mad River Festival. Jamie will also shadow faculty and staff in steps to build a performing arts center in Placerville, California.

“I am very honored to receive this grant and even more thrilled to get a chance to work with Michael Fields as mentor and work with Dell’Arte and their arts engagement programs,” says Jamie. “Growing up as a theatre artist in a rural community has so many challenges and this opportunity will give me a chance to give back to my hometown Placerville. Encouraging the significance of rural theatre and its place in the national arts scene. Thankful for Michael Fields and TCG giving me this opportunity.”

Dell’Arte is grateful to be part of this grant alongside other celebrated and highly regarded theatrical organizations who have made significant contributions to theatre in the U.S. Dell’Arte is proud to continue to foster the next generation of theatre makers and community leaders in our field. Jamie and his family will join the Dell’Arte community in Blue Lake in October, 2016.

Producing Artistic Director Michael Fields says, “I am very excited and honored to be mentoring Jamie as part of the TCG Leadership U initiative. Jamie is a dynamic artist and leader. He is also an MFA grad of Dell’Arte and we look forward to having him back in Blue Lake. We know he will bring a lot to Dell’Arte this season.”
