Dell’Arte’s 3rd Year Ensemble win accolades at UNAM Theatre Festival in Mexico

The 3rd Year MFA Ensemble have just returned from a successful and exciting week in Mexico City, where they performed their original tragedy, CITIZENS OF NOWHERE.

As part of the Festival Internacional de Teatro Universitario, hosted by the Centro Cultural Universitario and UNAM, the students were able to attend shows, participate in workshops, and network with international theatre artists from all over North, Central, and South America.

The MFA 3’s were also able to take in the city, in the company of Dell’Arte faculty members Sayda Trujillo, and Laura Muñoz (both of whom advised and collaborated with the ensemble on the project), and 1st Year Ensemble student Julieta Garza. Laura Muñoz was also invited to teach a three-day workshop at the festival.
The festival proved to be incredibly gracious hosts – providing housing, food, and transportation to the participating artists. A takeaway for the ensemble is the overwhelming generosity, welcome, and professional excellence that the people at FITU showed.

The ensemble were honored with two awards for their performance  – one for “Movement Composition” and the other for being “Most Relevant for our Time”.
