School Director Lauren Wilson recently spent two weeks in Harare, Zimbabwe, teaching workshops for the Zimbabwe Theatre Academy (ZTA), a new training program for actors founded by Dell’Arte alumni Lloyd Nyikadzino and Teddy Mangawa. Now in its inaugural year, ZTA is a full time, one-year professional program launched this September in partnership with Dell’Arte International and Pamberi Trust. The program is based in the principles of the Dell’Arte training. Ten students have been accepted to the ZTA’s first-year class, out of a pool of 48 applicants. Alumni Tafadzwa Bob Mutumbi, Nyarie Nhongonhema, and Chipo Chikara will also be involved as teachers and collaborators in this pioneering program, whose mission is to train, inspire and empower the next generation of Zimbabwean theatre artists!
