Solo Performance Retreat

Description

The work will focus on developing solo performance material with a strong eye to physical characterization and acting. Whether you're a seasoned actor, dancer, clown, circus artist, musician, or a novice looking to explore the art of solo performance, this workshop is your opportunity to make it happen. Michelle will guide you through a 12-day journey that blends workshop time (theater games, physical acting exercises, movement, improv), individual time (writing, marinating, processing), 1:1 coaching with Michelle, and thought-provoking discussions with the group. Theater of the Oppressed Facilitator Training

Description

This 4-day training will provide an introduction to the world-renowned Theatre of the Oppressed (T.O.), originally developed by Brazilian visionary, August Boal. Though designed specifically to train facilitators of Dell‘Arte’s Prison Arts program, this training will support all participants to use Theatre of the Oppressed (T.O.) with adults and youth in their own grassroots contexts. Focus includes T.O.’s innovative community building Games, Image Theatre, and the problem-solving structure, Forum Theatre. These highly accessible and adaptable techniques can be immediately applied by activists, community organizers, cultural animators, teachers, social workers, psychotherapists, and theatre artists, among others. This program is designed for those who want to participate in the family and ceremonial life of outstanding Balinese master teachers, during an intensive study month. For nearly 20 years, Dell'Arte's Balinese faculty have been leading participants through a truly unique experience, authentically exploring Balinese performing arts in their homes and communities. The Dell’Arte Abroad: Bali program is like no other in terms of our long-standing relationship as a teaching collective.
