2020/21 School Update

The 2020-2021 school year will be different from previous years at Dell’Arte.

Because of the pandemic, we have decided to postpone our next PTP class until the Fall of 2021. We will be starting modified in-person classes with our third-year MFA students in late September of 2020. Our second-year MFA students will begin in January of 2021, with Covid-19 safety protocols in place. You can keep an eye on us at www.dellarte.com for further updates to the 20-21 calendar as they develop.

We continue to wish you and yours health and safety at this time.

 2020 HOLIDAY SHOW TOUR

Our 3rd year MFA students will soon begin work on this year’s Holiday Show, an adaptation of “Hansel and Gretel” by the Brothers Grimm! This year is going to be different due to COVID-19 restrictions restrictions and with a renewed commitment to anti-racist creative practice.. As part of our creative process we are asking “how can we see this as an opportunity for invention?” For 35 years, Dell’Arte has toured annually up and down the North Coast in late fall to bring free holiday shows to communities performing in theatres, school gyms, halls, and community centers. We’d love suggestions from the community to ask how we can safely bring this show to you this year. Have you got a brilliant idea or resources for a creative solution? How do you want to see this show in a way that keeps our communities and performers safe? Let’s invent together: email holidayshow@dellarte.com

We have changed the dates for our Dell’Arte Abroad: Bali program to March 1 – 29 in 2021 – an exciting time to be on the island during Nyepi, the Balinese New Year! We’ve also updated our tuition fees to make this unique program available to more participants. In the event that the pandemic prevents our annual immersive study program from taking place in 2021, registrants can opt to continue at a rescheduled time. Don’t miss your incredible opportunity to study with our exceptional Balinese faculty and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Balinese arts.

Dell’Arte is committed to doing the work to become an antiracist organization. You can keep an eye on our process on our website as we go here. As we engage our community, we believe in and welcome a diversity of viewpoints, experiences, opinions, and beliefs, but we must also disable racism, discrimination, and destructive behavior that ignores both historical trauma and personal lived trauma. In recent weeks, our local press released a statement from a community member which does not represent Dell’Arte’s view. You can view our response, which we sent to our local media as a press release, here

Dell’Arte is actively inviting feedback from anyone in the community who wants to weigh in on how we’re doing as we continue our process of creating an antiracist organization. We’ve set up an email address to solicit feedback from anyone who has a perspective they’d like to share with us. Please send any comments or questions you have about equity at Dell’Arte, so that our staff can be in dialogue with our wider community and respond to your perspectives.
