Dell’Arte attends the 2018 Shakespeare in Prisons Conference

Co-facilitator of Dell’Arte’s Pelican Bay Prison Project in partnership with the William James Assoc., Janessa Johnsrude, received a grant from the Center of Cultural Innovation for the California Art Leaders Investment (CALI) Program to attend the 2018 Shakespeare in Prisons Conference at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego this past weekend. The conference offered Prison Arts Practitioners the opportunity to share their collective experiences working with incarcerated and post-incarcerated populations; rejuvenate passion; renew commitment to their vocation and build upon their expanding network of peers. Dell’Arte’s Janessa Johnsrude and Zuzka Sabata have been working at Pelican Bay Prison offering Theatre classes since 2016 and continue to evolve and expand the program. Dell’Arte is proud to be participating in the field of Arts in Corrections amongst a community of incredible practitioners. Thank you to the CCI CALI Program for funding our development.
